Many students benefit from several months of consistent SAT preparation, but the right starting point depends on your student’s current performance, target score, anticipated test date, coursework, and schedule. At C2, we help families map those factors together so preparation can begin with enough time for skill development, practice, feedback, and adjustments. We recommend that students aim to finalize their SAT scores by the spring of their junior year leaving the summer between junior and senior year to develop an admissions strategy and to focus on their personal statement and supplemental essays. This means that many of our most successful students begin SAT preparation as early as 9th or 10th grade in order to maximize their test scores.

Absolutely! A diagnostic SAT can provide a useful baseline before preparation begins by showing current performance, strengths, and areas that need attention. At C2, full-length diagnostic testing helps inform the development of a personalized academic plan and gives students, parents, and our tutors a common starting point for tracking progress.

Junior year is an important time to manage grades and course rigor, prepare for SAT or ACT testing as appropriate, refine college goals, and begin developing a target-school list and admissions strategy. C2 partners with students and parents to organize these priorities around a realistic academic timeline.
