Joanna, College Freshman, Rice University

Self-Described Personality.
Happy, determined, persistent and committed.

Life Outside the Classroom.
Joanna has been playing the violin for 11 years, with leadership positions in orchestras since she was seven. She’s a big fan of classical music but also loves to play the drums. And she still finds time to play tennis and paint landscapes.

Academic Bragging Rights.
Joanna participated in the 2006 Math Nationals with her school math team, which earned a place in the top 10. Besides holding leadership positions in several high school clubs, she has also been recognized in several regional and state music competitions.

The C2 Advantage.
“C2 teachers put tremendous time and effort into their students showing how much they care for each individual student. Their patience is incredible, no matter how many questions a student has. Their goal is total understanding of the material. When I am at C2, everything feels very personal because the teachers do everything to fill in the little holes in understanding that all students have.”

Big Dreams.
“Since I started piano at age four, music has been a huge part of my life. My dream is to become a professional violinist and perform solo, as well as part of a world-class orchestra. I also want to be involved in organizations that help disabled people and people in third-world countries.”

Smart essays focus on well-structured arguments. Grammar and spelling are secondary and give you no score advantage.
